During this series of art talks, speakers Melanie Paice and Peter Scott will explore the meaning behind art and national identity. Melanie is an artist, art tutor and lecturer. Peter Scott has been a guide and lecturer at Tate Britain and Tate Modern for 15 years.
The work of Edward Hopper (1882-1968) appeals to a wide public, including painters, photographers and film-makers. He turns a spotlight on 20th Century urban, suburban and coastal life in America. Norman Rockwell (1894-1978) best known for his topical covers for the ‘Saturday Evening Post’ with its light-hearted commentary on everyday life.
