Twickenham, on a bend in the River Thames, enjoys a special place in the history of the English garden.
This walking tour starts at York House, a C17 red-brick house in former times the home variously of Horace Walpole's niece Mrs Anne Damer. It then continues along the Embankment to the modern gardens on the site of the demolished Twickenham swimming pool, along Cross Deep to the site of Pope's house and garden and to Radnor Gardens, formerly the site of Radnor House.
From Radnor Gardens it is but a short walk across the road to Strawberry Hill...
Your ticket includes a refreshing cream tea in the Cloister House Café at the end of this informative guided walk.
