Beautiful and moving music, perfectly matched to the mood of Good Friday, is being performed at St Martin of Tours Church in Epsom on the evening of Friday 25th March. Samuel Barber’s String Quartet Op 11 includes the heart-rending ‘Adagio’ and Arvo Pärt’s extraordinarily beautiful ‘Stabat Mater’ can be heard alongside a selection of plainchant and polyphony – two of the earliest musical forms.
Bringing you this programme are the Stella String Quartet, soprano Natalie Johnson-Hyde, mezzo Sarah Denbee and tenor Miles Ashdown.
The concert begins at 7.30 in the lovely surroundings and superb acoustics of Epsom’s largest historical building.
Free entry with retiring collection welcome.
