Kingswood
Since the last CReSTeD visit the school has been inspected by Ofsted in 2008 and had an interim inspection by ISI in November 2009.
The interim inspection was a two day visit with a focus on compliance with regulatory requirements. The school met all the requirements in both the main school and for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
The quality of the pupils’ achievements and their learning, attitudes and basic skills was seen to be good with a significant proportion of teaching deemed to be outstanding. The quality of the pupils’ personal development and their social development and pastoral care were also graded as outstanding.
The effectiveness of governance, leadership and management was of a high standard with outstanding aspects. Links with parents were excellent. The school was advised to develop the monitoring of teaching to ensure greater consistency of standards in all areas, including planning and marking and to further develop and formalise the scheme of work for PSHE. All aspects of EYFS were seen to be outstanding.
One recommendation was to use the outside area as a learning environment across all areas of learning and development to allow greater free-flow access to the outdoors throughout the day.
