Based on the novel by Mary Haley Bell 'Whistle Down the Wind' is set in America's deep south in the fifties. A young girl discovers a man hiding out in a barn. When she asks who he is and the first words he utters are 'Jesus Christ' it's as if all her prayers are answered. Swallow and the town's other children vow to protect the man from the world outside, but the townspeople are searching for a dangerous fugitive. As fantasy and reality collide Swallow begins to discover who she and where she is going.
