Motivated by Alexander Pushkin’s short story, which also inspired Peter Shaffer’s famous film Amadeus, Rimsky-Korsakov’s opera Mozart and Salieri (Saturday 24 June) follows the apocryphal legend that Salieri poisoned his rival Mozart out of jealousy over his talent. This new English translation, staged by an award-winning team, will captivate its audience, making you witnesses – if not conspirators – of Salieri’s plan to poison Mozart.
