The Outside Track

This will be The Outside Track's third visit to play for us at Grayshott Village Hall (they played for us in April 2013 and May 2014). The band comprises two Canadian girls, two Scots lasses and an Irish fella who spend their lives travelling the World, taking traditional Irish/Celtic Folk music to the people. If you haven't seen them before, don't miss them this time round.
On January 1st 2012, acclaimed international Celtic band, The Outside Track, celebrated picking up the ‘Group of the Year’ award at both the Live Ireland Music Awards 2012 and the TIR Irish Music Awards.
A stunning synthesis of virtuosity and energy, The Outside Track's marriage of Canadian, Scottish and Irish music and song has been rapturously received around the world. Hailing from Scotland, Ireland, Cape Breton and Vancouver, its five members are united by a love of traditional music and a commitment to creating new music with the tradition as a foundation. Using their instruments, step-dance and beautiful harmony singing, these five virtuosos blend boundless energy with unmistakable joie de vivre.
Each player in The Outside Track is master of their chosen instrument and they are: Mairi Rankin (fiddle, vocals, step-dance), Teresa Hogan (vocals, flute), Ailie Robertson (harp), Fiona Black (accordion) and Cillian O'Dalaigh (guitar, step-dance). Such individual flair alone would be enough to recommend the band but in this case their combined talents are so much greater than the individual sum of their parts
The Outside Track tour extensively and January 2017 sees them play in Australia before touring Denmark, the UK, travelling coast to coast across the U.S.A and then back to Germany. We're lucky they are stopping by in Grayshott long enough to play for us again when they will be performing songs and tunes from their new album "Light Up The Dark".
